They put a fly on the internet.
The internet has been doing things with it.

Scientists published every wire in a male fruit fly brain — 3,061 neurons, 55M synapses, 510,072 lines — and the timeline treated it like a celebrity had just been born. The paper is in Cell. The résumé, the dating profile, and the GitHub bio are everywhere else. This is the feed.

About this directory

In August 2025, FlyTEM delivered MaleCNS: the complete connectome of an adult male fruit fly brain — 3,061 neurons traced, ~55 million synapses predicted, and the full set published as navigable data. Since then, researchers and AI agents have been posting screenshots of wiring diagrams, cell inventories, and behavioral-hypothesis threads that are weirdly captivating.

This site collects the best of it and sorts by engagement. It is an unofficial, lovingly curated fan directory — every post belongs to its author, and every card links back to the original on X.

Runs on one static HTML file and a JSON file. The fly requires no backend. Follow @theflydidit for commentary.
